Revolutionary road and gravel components from TRP
TRP returns to its roots, establishing new benchmarks in the road and gravel sector. In collaboration with Classified, a cutting-edge road and gravel group- set has been developed, redefining efficiency and performance standards. This partnership embodies the perfect symbiosis of tradition and innovation.
Originally, TRP planned the VISTAR groupset as a system with a 12-speed cassette and a traditional front derailleur to offer the rider 24 transmission options with small gear steps. However, when problems arose with the conventional shifting of the 2-speed chainrings, the team opted for a solution with just one chainring, while retaining the finely graduated gear ratios
TRP worked with Classified Cycling to integrate an internally geared 2-speed PowerShift hub to meet the high demands of road and gravel. The result: 24 possible gears, 16 of which can be changed via a lever. VISTAR‘s development focused on a wireless system that uses wireless communication technology to ensure smooth control between the shift levers and rear derailleur. The result is a road and gravel groupset with innovative and clean single chainring architecture, first-class hydraulic disc brakes, wireless CMD (COMMAND) communication and an internally geared 2-speed hub.
This advanced carbon layup merges lightness and strength to deliver unparalleled performance. Renowned for its high wear resistance, it guarantees lasting durability. The lightweight and rigid design ensures optimal range and efficiency, enabling every athlete to achieve their best with VISTAR.

TRP VISTAR Development Story
TRP connected with Classified Cycling, a company based in Antwerp, Belgium who had developed what we recognized as the ideal complimentary technology. .
Their game changing internally geared 2-speed PowerShift hub was the key component piece to allow the VISTAR groupset to maintain a full range of gearing suitable for endurance road and gravel cycling.
A key target in the development of VISTAR was that it must be a wireless system without cables to the shifting mechanism. VISTAR was planned from the start to be TRP’s first product the use Bluetooth wireless technology for the connection between shift levers and derailleurs. This allows for a cleaner looking bicycle with easier set up, without the need to route shifting cables through the frame. The VISTAR groupset is unique in that it wirelessly pairs the VISTAR integrated brake/shift levers with both the VISTAR rear derailleur via the right-hand shift button and the Classified Powershift via the left-hand shift buttons.
Innovation is most powerful when it not only pushes the boundaries of the status quo, but when it enhances performance, elevates the rider’s experience, and serves as a solution to long-standing problems. The VISTAR drop bar groupset from TRP successfully achieves all these things and is an example of innovation at its finest. Through application of world-class engineering, decades of manufacturing leadership, strategic partnership, and an unwavering commitment to innovation, TRP introduces VISTAR.
TRP is a proven leader in braking technology and in recent years, TRP has become a strong player in the category of high-performance drivetrain and shifting systems. Using experience gained from designing and producing the highest quality performance braking systems and our years of testing on the UCI World Cup circuit we were able to develop reliable, consistent shifting technology that performed in the harshest of conditions.
TRP set out to develop a drop bar groupset that would redefine road and gravel cycling. The VISTAR project would not have succeeded without the vision that there was the potential to create a new groupset that could set a new standard in rider experience and ease of use. TRP began with an understanding of the shortcomings of traditional 2x drivetrains, fragility of front derailleurs and the unreliability of front shifting. TRP Engineers believed that with new thinking and perspective a better solution could be created.
The TRP VISTAR groupset was originally envisioned as a system based on a 12-speed rear cassette with traditional front derailleur that would give the rider 24 close ratio gearing options. However, as we began to understand the challenges surrounding traditional front shifting, we realized that a single chainring solution would be a better alternative. Where we differed from our competition was that we also knew that finely stepped gear ratios were still a critical performance component crucial to efficiency for road and gravel cyclist alike. We made the conscious decision to develop a solution that preserved the benefits of traditional 2x systems without the functional shortcomings.
The demands of road cycling are clearly different than those of mountain biking where wide ratio, 1×12 gearing matches the abrupt and varied changes typical of offroad terrain. We needed a way to maintain small steps between gears to allow riders to maximize efficiency while matching the progressive and dynamic power output characteristic of road, gravel and other types of endurance cycling.
